WorkMD — Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your purchase and use of WorkMD, a native macOS Markdown application, and your use of this website (workmd.app). WorkMD is made and sold by Design by Miz (“we”, “us”), a one-person studio operating from Ontario, Canada. By purchasing or using WorkMD, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not purchase or use the app.

The app and your license

WorkMD is offered as a one-time purchase of US$10.00 for a perpetual license — there is no subscription and no recurring charge. The license lets you install and use WorkMD on the Mac computers you own or control, for personal or commercial work. WorkMD is proprietary software, not open source. You may not resell, redistribute, rent, sublicense, or share the app or your license key, and you may not copy, modify, decompile, or reverse-engineer the app except to the extent the law expressly permits. Your use of the app is also governed by the app’s End User License Agreement (EULA), presented in the app and available on request; if the EULA and these Terms conflict on licensing, the EULA controls.

Free trial

WorkMD includes a 7-day free trial so you can evaluate it before buying. When the trial ends, a valid license is required to keep using the app. We may adjust trial length or terms for future versions; the terms shown in the version you have apply to that version.

Payment, price, and Merchant of Record

Direct purchases are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”), our Merchant of Record. This means Paddle sells the license to you, handles payment, and collects and remits any applicable sales tax or VAT. Your purchase is therefore also subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms. Prices are shown in US dollars and the price displayed at the time of your purchase applies; we may change prices for future purchases. A Mac App Store version, if offered, is sold and delivered by Apple under Apple’s terms.

Delivery of your license key

After a successful purchase, your license key is delivered by email — usually within a few minutes. Please provide a valid email address at checkout and check your spam folder. If your key does not arrive, contact us at hello@designbymiz.com and we will resend it. The app verifies your key offline; no account or ongoing connection is required.

Acceptable use of this website

You agree not to misuse this website — for example, by attempting to disrupt it, gain unauthorized access, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

Intellectual property

WorkMD, the WorkMD name and icon, this website, and all related content are owned by Design by Miz and protected by intellectual-property laws. Your license grants you the right to use the app; it does not transfer any ownership.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

WorkMD and this website are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability arising from or related to WorkMD is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law that cannot be limited or excluded — including, where it applies, Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002.

Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your license and access to updates if you materially breach these Terms — for example, by redistributing the app or your license key, obtaining a refund while continuing to use a revoked key, initiating a fraudulent chargeback, or creating a fraud or security risk. Where it’s reasonable to do so, we’ll warn you first. Termination doesn’t limit any statutory rights you have.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any non-waivable consumer rights, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version, and changes apply to purchases and use after they are posted.
